Hola Happy Readers!

School has begun. Caden and Ry are now both catching the bus to the intermediate school. They were both excited for school to start. Caden has taken up the trumpet, and Ry continues to play the clarinet.

At dinner: Cade: "Dad, I'm getting good on the trumpet." Me: "Son, perhaps it is premature to use the word "good"". Brian, "Well, son. You have nowhere to go but up." In this he is correct. Beginning violin is screechy. Clarinet squeaky. But the trumpet is like an elephant, dying in your living room. Loudly. Caden loves it.

We have started our home school program with Britt and Rhea. Fun. and Messy. Lots of hands on projects. Rheanna is having so much fun, and finally excited about learning. She is not a big fan of paper work which is why after much deliberation we decided to try homeschooling. I will definitely learn patience this year. Me, holding up a red triangle "Britt, what is the name of this shape?" Britt, breaking into a big grin, "Bob! It's Mr. Bob!" Grabs the triangle and jumps it around the table. Me, sighing internally, "And what SHAPE is Mr. Bob?" Britt "Silly Mom, he's a TRIANGLE." Note to self: word questions more carefully.

Britt especially loves his science class. I contribute this to having a biologist father, that is forever dragging us off to look at some bug, dead thing, the stars, or geology interest. Britt is also glad that we have an extra science project to keep us busy. He brought this egg sac he found in the lake home in his water bottle. GROSS. We have been observing it, and sadly, we feel nothing is going to hatch. But it really was a cool ball of egg-packed slime. Any guesses to what it is?

Lastly, Here is Britt with his shape puppet. He enjoyed making it and played with it all day.

'til next post.
