Woodard bay and Holquists

It's been too long since I've posted, and I have lots to share. I'm sure by the time I catch up I'll be behind again.
We enjoyed an awesome weekend with the famous Bec and Chuck. Bec and I went to a "Sweet Honey in the Rock" concert, while the guys ordered pizza and entertained the kids. Was a real treat to get out and see down town Olympia and eat at a fabulous whole foods restaurant. The music was good - they had a sign language interpreter that tours with them. She was fabulous.

On Saturday Bec and I took the reluctant boys shopping for some meeting clothes. They are growing by leaps and bounds. We hit Kohls and found excellent prices and "skinny" pants. We even got belts, socks, and a short sleeve dress shirt in case we ever get some warm weather here.

After lunch we headed out to Woodard Bay. The weather was perfect! Sun.. (as we had to remind ourselves the bright orb in the sky is called) beamed down on us all day. This is really our first hike since Ry was two, and Rheanna's first. She loved it. We hiked down to the bay and the kids played in
the sand, found clams, crabs, racoon prints, shells barnicles, and did some bird watching.

We also learned first hand why stinging nettles are called stinging nettles. We highly recommend hikers to be able to identify this tretcherous plant and avoid it at all cost. In the event you do touch it, DON'T RUB, ITCH, OR TOUCH the affected area, or it will hurt for hours instead of a half hour.

This is a stinging nettle:

My Favorite place was the ponds with newts in them. There was also bubbles filled with frog eggs. Should be teeming with tadpoles now. See if you can find the newt.

I loved reading about your trip to Woodard Bay. The boys look very handsome in their new suits. I do know about stinging nettles--not fun. MOM
